Prevention - Remember prevention is your best defense against fire. If you have a wood or coal stove, be sure it is installed at least 36 inches away from the wall. Keep combustible materials well away from the stove and chimney connector. Place an approved stove board under the unit to protect the floor from heat and hot coals which might drop out.
Be Prepared - Posting your 911 house number will assist in locating your house in the event of a fire, medical, or police emergency. Reflective numbers at the end of your driveway will ensure that responders find your home in a timely manner. Our fire trucks may take a while to turn around if we pass your house and seconds can make a difference when it comes to an emergency. If you suspect a fire or any other type of emergency in your home, evacuate immediately and call 911.
