How can i get smoke detectors?

We participate in a program with MI Fire Prevention to offer FREE installed smoke detectors. Call 231-893-6503 to see if your household qualifies and to schedule.
WHat can i do with old fire extinguishers?

Old fire extinguishers present a danger from the pressurized bottle more than the contents inside. We recommended discharging the extinguisher safely and then it can be placed in normal household trash. This is also great practice sould you ever need to utilize one!
where can i take old medications?

The Fire Department does NOT accept old medications. Those can be dropped off to the appropriate receptacle located at the Whitehall Police Department at 405 E. Colby, Whitehall, MI 49461. If you have any questions about what they can and cannot take, please contact them directly at 231-894-2317,
